Autograph letter signed, dated : [n.p.], 5 November 1826, to Hector Berlioz, 1826 Nov. 5.

Agreeing with Berlioz on "l'injustice de jugement" expressed in the Mercure regarding Spontini's Vestale, but saying that he does not place as much importance as Berlioz on those magisterial decisions of journalists who have such elementary knowledge of the art about which they write with such confidence, saying that La vestale, "ecrite sous mes yeux, est un ouvrage tout d'inspiration," recalling the favorable articles that appeared in the Moniteur about the opera when it was first performed, in 1807, etc.
